I just got back from London for the second time this month, which I’m pretty sure makes me the luckiest person on the planet. The entire trip was maybe the best of my life, so I’ll be sure to give you those details soon. But first, let’s talk about accommodations. Because I was there for work (the world premiere of “World War Z”), my flight and hotel were taken care of… and what a hotel it was! The Corinthia is THE hotel in London right now and ohhh is it glamorous!
I arrived after a 10 hour red eye, and since my client had dinner plans, I felt I had no choice but to spend my evening at ESPA Life, the Corinthia Spa, which ranks in my top two spa visits ever (only comparable to the Grove Park in NC). ESPA Life is dramatic in design, moody in vibe and well, just a spectacular way to spend as many hours as possible.
No expense was spared on the 3300 metres of grandeur. They take a fully integrated wellness approach to your experience, meaning there’s a gym, dining, sauna, hammam, steam room, ice fountain, blah blah blah. There are extensive treatments…even offering Rush Hour Beauty, meant to get you in and out in an hour over your lunch break (because who doesn’t want to go to the spa over lunch??). While I did book an hour massage, I was most wowed by the Thermal Suite floor, which includes the best invention ever…water therapy.
There are heated loungers and a heated floor. I mean….why EVER leave this place?
The Thermal Suite is warm in temperature, so you never have to worry about being cold after a swim. Praise the Lord.
I spent a good hour in this Vitality Pool, and if my skin wouldn’t fall off, I would still be in there now. You can choose to sit in an individual pod for a water massage or lounge on the chrome rails and let the bubbles overtake you. I did both. OhyesIdid.
The next day, with a few hours to kill before the premiere festivities, I mosied down to the Lobby Lounge. Notice the flower arrangements on the table. They were everywhere and just absolutely stunning.
Up close and personal
Just off the lobby is a mini Harrods boutique inside the hotel and the florist where all these works of art are created.
I came home with a Wedgwood teacup and restored gratefulness that my job takes me to such insanely amazing places. That, and renewed energy to work even harder so I can afford this hotel when someone else isn’t paying ;).
