And that’s all for the cleanse. #RIP. I lasted all of 1.5 days! But, let me fill you in. I didn’t stop because I was hungry, I stopped because I didn’t realize that I would be sick in bed. Apparently cleanses affect everyone differently and I should have known that I would get the worst of it. Where did I leave off yesterday…oh yes, breakfast. So, shortly after I ate breakfast, I drank one of the tea packets (it was just chamomile, nothing harsh). I started to get those cold sweats we were warned about. I toughed it out until it was time for my morning snack (the shake cleanse). The more I drank, the more nauseous I became—to the point I couldn’t sit up and with it came a really bad headache (nothing new there). This was a much easier week work wise than most. I didn’t have to be with any clients for any events except yesterday at 3pm (of course!). I polled my two friends to see if they felt this way when they did it. One did, one didn’t, but regardless if this was the norm, I couldn’t blow off a Variety Emmy panel because I chose not to eat.
What did I learn? Apparently, I’m really addicted to sugar (shocker) and my body was really rebelling against ridding it of those toxins. My great grandmother lived to be in her 90s, was diabetic, ate whatever she felt like eating and wore fabulous shoes while doing it. I hope I take after her (minus the diabetic part, so maybe I’ll watch my sugar intake..maybe). For now, I’m ok admitting I was defeated and will enjoy my morning Blue Bottle coffee on my favorite day of the week. I might just celebrate tonight with a burger.
What about you? Ever tried a cleanse? I’d love to hear about it!

Molly,
Beau, Cams and I all did the master cleanse once, back in 2008 I think. We all lasted the full 10 days, and once you reach day 3, the rest was easy. We all had more clarity, didn’t need an alarm to wake up, had more energy and felt better. The system definitely was cleaned up, so to speak, but those headaches around day 2-3 were awful. The toxins and sugars were being released so the body was going into withdrawals.
I had the same sort of headaches when I did P90X and quit coca cola…that hurt for daaaaays.
You can do it!!!! Next time, and maybe after a little sugar weaning first.
Burger? How about bo’eu’f bour’gui’g'non (I added the ‘ for emphases on my french ac’cent)
Alex…hats off to you guys! You are way stronger than I!!
