Express Your Gratitude

siska-studios-etsy-thank-youI’ve been spending quite a lot of time at the post office lately.  It seems like I’m there at least twice a week, mailing out onesies and receiving blankets (Supersoft! Organic!), lacy thongs and bralettes (Hanky Panky!) or  pizza stones and wine glasses (Crate and Barrel!). All of our friends are celebrating something – be it a new baby, an engagement, a wedding or the purchase of their first house.

Call me old fashioned, but once I send off my gift, I expect to receive a proper “thank you” note and to date I’ve gotten one.  I’m not talking about an email fired off from your iPhone, or a Blackberry Messenger text (bbm for those of you hip to my lingo).  I’m talking about the hard copy kind that the postman delivers.  The kind that require a 44 cent stamp (yup, the rate increased on May 11th).

Haven’t got cards laying around?  What a lame excuse.  Etsy will solve all your paper conundrums without breaking the bank.  As a girl with letterpress taste on a post-it budget, this magical marketplace has become my mecca for custom stationery. Overflowing with hand-made items, there is literally something for everybody. Glitter and lace bridesmaid cards?  Check.  Thick linen paper with a simple monogram in a manly hue?  Check.  One-of-a-kind holiday cards sure to show up the Joneses?  Check.  Or, if you fancy yourself a designer – most of the sellers will happily collaborate with you to create something extra special.

Tried and tested Etsy Shops include Siska Studio for notes with branches and botanicals and Zenadia Design for couture invitations.

The next time you find yourself opening a gift, don’t forget to express your gratitude!  And heck, if you’re lucky, maybe you’ll get a “thank you” for your “thank you.”

I agree with the opening idea expressed. It is sad so few people even think to acknowledge a gift, much less send thanks.
I love stationary of all kinds and usually self publish my own… but the fun part of Snail Mail is buying fun stamps and using a special stamp for the person receiving the card… with postage changing every other day… you get to uses several stamps!
I am lucky, my daughter-in-law is one of the other rare people left on this planet that sends Snail Mail notes… Good Girl.
